Artist statement

​「写真は光の版画である」という視点に基づき、カメラを用いず、古典技法・青写真（サイアノタイプ）による作品制作を行う。 福島県西会津町の出ヶ原和紙工房にて美術家・滝澤徹也氏に師事。同地に自生する楮の刈り取りから、伝統的な製法による和紙の制作までを一貫して自らの手で行い、自身が漉いた和紙作品の支持体とする。光を視覚的な現象としてだけでなく、風土や文化、生命を育む根源的なエネルギーとして捉え、自然（Jinen）の摂理と写真技法の融合を探求している

Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Currently based in Tokyo.

Operating under the philosophy that "photography is a print of light," Chokko Yamadaya  creates works using the classical cyanotype technique without the use of a camera.

He studies traditional Japanese papermaking under artist Tetsuya Takizawa at the Izugahara Washi Studio in Nishi-Aizu, Fukushima. [Name] personally handles the entire process by hand—from harvesting the wild Kozo (paper mulberry) native to the region to crafting the Washi (Japanese paper) using traditional methods—and uses this self-made paper as the substrate for his works.

Perceiving light not merely as a visual phenomenon but as the fundamental energy that nurtures climate, culture, and life, he explores the fusion of photographic techniques with the providence of "Jinen" (nature as it is).
